Sterling silver recycled copper broken circle necklace
I was thinking about all the necklaces I have where the “catch” is always hidden in the back – functional but not pretty. I decided to make the “catch” the focal point of my design – giving her a starring role. I noticed that the circle was a shape I was seeing everywhere in nature – So the circle became the basis for this piece. However, in nature I have always observed that nothing is ever symmetrical. I used my upcycled copper to echo that less than perfect rule of nature. When you heat recycled copper it will break into pieces unless you handle it with kid gloves. I decided to embrace the break and create beauty from it – much like Mother Nature Herself.
When you wear this I hope that you remember that nature doesn’t strive for perfection, instead it seeks to create beauty from imperfection.
The Necklace clasp is approximately 23 mm in diameter and hangs a total of 19″.
If you wear this item – please be sure to give a gentle squeeze periodically to the clasp – to keep it nice and tight.
